Founded in 1970, the Joint Economic Council (JEC) is the coordinating body of the Private Sector of Mauritius and it regroups the main business organisations of the country.

Mauritius has a long-standing tradition of Government/Private Sector dialogue which allows the Private Sector to voice its views on the development strategy of the country. The dialogue takes place in a structured manner as well as on an ad hoc basis.
